Move the Progress Bar to Tabs in Firefox

Do you like to see how much of the webpage is loaded but at the same time not want the progress bar in the status bar? Here's a simple trick to clean your firefox view.

Here is the “Progress Bar” showing in the “Status Bar” while a webpage is loading… nice if you like having the “Status Bar” displayed. But what if you prefer to have the “Status Bar” hidden?

Once you have installed the extension, the “Progress Bar” will display on any tabs that are currently loading leaving you free to completely hide the “Status Bar” if you desire.

Note: There are no options to have to worry with for this extension…just install and go.

Move Live Messenger Icon to the System Tray in Windows 7

If you’ve switched to Windows 7 and use Windows Live Messenger, you might have noticed the icon stays in the new Taskbar(SuperBar). If your annoyed by this and would rather see it in the System Tray (notification area), just follow this simple process.

Usually when you close out or minimize Messenger it will reside in the SuperBar.

To make it act like it did in previous versions of Windows, right-click on the Windows Live Messenger icon and go to Properties.

In the example above I created an icon on the desktop but you can also do the same thing with the icon in the start menu.

Then go to the Compatibility tab and run it in Windows Vista compatibility mode.

The icon might be hidden in the notification area though…

You just need to customize the Notification Area Icons and have it Show icon and notifications.

That’s it! Now you have your Messenger icon back where it used to be.

If you’re annoyed by the way the Live Messenger icon is displayed, following this quick tip should help you out.

NVIDIA happy with Windows 7

Does Windows 7 support the old hardware ? Many people say yes but the actual answer should be no ! NVIDIA clearly states that you need the latest hardware for best results with Windows 7. But, with the new hardware from NVIDIA, Windows 7 runs much faster than ever expected. Multi-tasking becomes much more effective with NVIDIA and Windows 7. Read More to see the Video demonstration by NVIDIA.

During the NVIDIA and Microsoft joint press conference on Feb 11, 2009, Drew Henry from NVIDIA demonstrated Windows 7 multi-tasking with the ION.

This new low-cost, low-power platform is set to first hit the market as tiny desktop computers and then later find its way into netbooks.

As Drew Henry rightfully stated, you won't see an Intel based Atom and chipset netbook doing anything like this.

Also, after the release of the RTM, NVIDIA recommends its latest graphics processing units (GPU) to its users to get best results from the best operating system (OS).

Not to forget that NVIDIA was there at the Windows 7 launch event.

NVIDIA competes with Intel again and again, now Windows 7 added fuel to the fire.

Of course NVIDIA gives awesome gaming experience. Check out how it is on Windows 7.

Something you should have realized by now
Microsoft did say it aimed for a compatible operating system (OS) and that's why it made Windows 7, but it surely looks on a business view. The next version of Windows codenamed Windows 8 is expected to run on a 128 bit supporting system. Its clear they want professional quality and not compatibility anymore.

However, NVIDIA is very happy with the new Windows 7 as it gives them an opportunity to make better performance hardware. Make sure you get the best possible hardware if you are wanting Windows 7 because the next version of Windows will need the best of the best hardware to work. For those of you who have compatible hardware, enjoy the experience.

FireFox 3.6 Beta for Windows 7 !!!

The latest Firefox beta integrates much more fully into Windows 7, adding support for Aero Peek-enabled tabs, an enhanced Ctrl+Tab, and more. We'll show you how they work, and how to enable or disable them.

If you wish to download the latest firefox click the link below to see the firefox beta site.

The Aero Peek Tabs (Can be removed)

If you simply hover your mouse over the Firefox button in the Windows 7 taskbar, you'll see a list of all the open tabs. This works best if you only have a few tabs open—too many, and it'll just stop showing them.

Enhanced Ctrl+Tab (optional)

The really awesome new feature is an enhanced Ctrl+Tab, but you'll have to turn it on with a simple tweak if you want to use it. Once you've done that (detailed below), you can simply hit the shortcut key combination to flip between the tabs. Note that it only activates if you have 3 or more tabs open.

Enhanced Ctrl+Shift+Tab, with Tab Search

Ever wanted to be able to just start typing in the name of a tab in order to switch to it? Once you've enabled the Ctrl+Tab setting, you can use Ctrl+Shift+Tab to pull up this alternate tab switching interface, and then start typing in the name of a tab to filter it down.

For example, if I typed in "tiny" into the textbox in the above screenshot, you would only see the TinyHacker tab on the dialog.

Enable or Disable Ctrl+Tab Enhancements

This one isn't enabled by default (at this point), but you can enable or disable it by typing in about:config into the address bar, and then filtering for the following key:

You can simply double-click the key to change it between true and false.

If you want to also be able to activate the new tab switcher with the button on the right-hand side of the tab bar:

You can open up about:config and filter for this key, making sure to enable it:

Enable or Disable Taskbar Aero Peek Enhancements

This one is enabled by default in my testing, but if you want to disable it you can type about:config into the address bar, and then filter for the following key:

Just like above, double-click to change between true and false.

Firefox is a free software. We only reviewed it.
